Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day – Nerd Style!

Whether you’re Irish or not, everyone celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. People have used the annual celebration of Irish culture as one giant excuse for drinking copious amounts of green beer and eating anything that can be dyed green.

People even wear something green on that day or add a little shamrock to their outfit. But if you want to do something completely different this year, here’s five ways of celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, the nerdy way!

1. Let your geek flag fly!

If you don’t want to be like everyone and wear a ‘Kiss Me, I’m Irish’ shirt, show off your nerdy style by dressing up as one of your favorite ‘green’ fictional characters! Green Lantern or anyone from the Green Lantern Corps is pretty much the obvious go-to but you can also dress up as: Green Arrow, She-Hulk, Hulk, Loki, Poison Ivy, Yoda, the Ninja Turtles or Martian Manhunter.

4. Have a St. Patrick’s Day nerd movie marathon!

If you’re not the type to go out and drink with the rest of society, stay at home and curl up with some classic St. Patrick’s Day or drinking movies. I did this last year by binge-watching the whole Leprechuan series (yes, even Leprechaun: In the Hood) and finished off with a little Shaun of the Dead cause, y’know, zombies and beer.

But no matter what you do for St. Patrick’s Day, make sure you have lots of fun, spend it with good people and of course drink responsibly!
