GEEKPR0N gets some Sweet Action

If you’re launching not one, not two, but three independent comics, where would you do your launch party?

If you’re A. Shay Hahn you turn to uptown tattoo parlor The Society of the Seven Crowns Tattoo and then paint up a storm of canvases honouring your comic heroes in very interesting ways!

One image was using Marvel’s Armin Zola in a Silver Samurai type armour, another had M.O.D.O.K. with a modified beer can hat and a hot dog. There were paintings of Wolverine, old style Nick Fury in an action shot–but still chomping his cigar, and the newest version of Batgirl with her more practical yellow boot costume. Hahn also had several images of Cthulhu, usually wearing purple shorts.  He also had original work including colourful ray guns, and a few large pieces which reminded me of the game “Who’s Who”.

The Seven Crowns Tattoo had their walls covered with dozens of pieces. They also created a special beverage for the event: Sweet Action. It was a vodka, cranberry, and ginger-ale cocktail with cranberries as garnish.

Despite the snowy weather, many made it out to congratulate the artist and test their knowledge of comic book characters.

The art will be on display at Seven Crowns (2499 Yonge St.) until March 7th, and many pieces are still available for purchase.  On top of the pieces on the wall, three prints are available (you can see them in the gallery below), as well as all three of the comics that were launched.

A. Shay Hahn will also be doing signings of his books (Homeless G-Men, Crypto Zombic, and Battle Rally) and the prints for the following two Thursdays (February 12th and 19th) from 12-7 at the studio.  Pop in to say hi, grab some art, and have a chat about comics!  He’ll even be doing a bit of drawing, so if you’re lucky you may even get a custom piece drawn up.

If you’re not able to make it into Seven Crowns before the end of the month, you can purchase the prints online right here.
