‘Hail HYDRA’ is the Best New Meme to Hit the Internet

In just a few days, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has already become the biggest box office opener in the month of April.  The ‘Tumblr’ generation has created a hilarious new meme inspired by the film:  “Hail HYDRA!”

In the film, it was revealed that Hydra sleeper agents had taken over much of S.H.I.E.L.D since its inception during Captain America: The First Avenger. In a scene between Senator Stern (played by Garry Shandling, who also made a brief cameo in Iron Man 2) and Agent Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernandez), as the two say their goodbyes, Stern leans in to Sitwell whispering, “Hail HYDRA”, revealing that Stern is in on the evil terrorist scheme.

Fans of the Marvel Universe are used to hearing the motto; it’s appeared in hundreds of Marvel franchises since 1965, with the full motto being:

“Hail HYDRA! Immortal HYDRA! We shall never be destroyed! Cut off one limb and two more shall take its place! We serve the Supreme HYDRA, as the world shall soon serve us!”

The meme layout is simple: take a picture for two characters whispering to one another and add “Hail Hydra” to the picture. Here are some of my favorite ones:
