Halo 5: Guardians News

At last year’s E3 Bonnie Ross, the head of 343 Industries tantalized Halo fans with a teaser trailer. “Your journey begins in 2014” she said, so we waited and waited until this week she posted on Xbox’s official website  that the next instalment entitled Halo 5: Guardians will release in the fall of 2015 exclusively for the Xbox One. If you didn’t catch her original announcement, you can check out the trailer from last year’s E3 on the top of this post.

More exciting news came from Frank O’Connor, the Franchise Development Director at 343 who reacted to Ross’s post on Halo Waypoint, the official Halo website. After sharing his excitement about the release date and the fact that the game will run at 60 frames per second on a new engine that is being created by 343, he addressed Ross’s statement from last year. “What journey is she talking about and why is the Chief wearing a poncho? Ok some might call it a cloak, but the fact remains- you knew something more nuanced was afoot.” O’Connor hinted, but it seems the entire 343 is keeping silent on any more details until this year’s E3. He said that he believes fans will be pleased with the studio’s plan to roll out the game, the only solid information fans have is by way of the newly revealed poster.

After the reveal of the new teaser poster, Josh Holmes the Executive Producer of Halo 5: Guardians tweeted, “For everyone speculating about the mysterious Spartan in Halo 5: Guardians, he’s not Palmer (or Cortina!) He’s a NEW character.” This may come as a surprise to many fans since Sarah Palmer was such a huge fixture in Halo 4 and a fan favorite, but now we are stuck with the mysterious identity of the new Spartan. Fans can also look forward to a Halo TV series produced by Stephen Spielberg that will air on the Xbox Live network, it will also air in fall 2015 to coincide with the release of the new game.
