Peter Mayhew, What a Wookie.

Have you ever watched a movie and thought how awesome it must have been to be on set?  A lot of us have thought of it while watching Firefly or Star Trek: The Next Generation.  The idea of seeing how much fun everyone has off camera will bring a smile to most faces.

What about Star Wars, though?

What was it like on set with George Lucas and Harrison Ford?  What was it like to hang out with Sir Alec Guinness between takes?  How many jokes, smiles or intimate moments were there behind the cameras?  Thanks to Peter Mayhew, who played the wonderful wookie Chewbacca, he uploaded a bunch of never before seen photographs to twitter.

His pictures do more than show us people on break.  They tell a story of people who were on the frontier of creating something new.  Mayhew’s captions are hilarious and add that perfect amount of spice to the photographs.  He hasn’t shown any signs of stopping either.  We’ve created a gallery of some of the pictures found on his twitter account, but he is on a posting spree.

It’s like getting to look behind the curtains of history.  We all get a chance to look back and remember what we loved about the series, and see how much fun they had on set.

Mayhew has posted a ton of them, and it is well worth the time to go through and see them all.

Thanks to the on-line Wookie Translator, we just want to say in appreciation: “Awwgggghhh Raaaaaahhgh Uughghhhgh Raaaaaahhgh.”
