The Pull List: New Comic Releases and Top 5 for August 13
It was tough to pick just five titles this week from the list of new comic releases. Honourable mention goes to The Amazing Spider-Man #5; the issue will tie into Original Sin and continue to explore the origins of Silk. Also worthy of attention is Wolverine #11; while I haven’t been a huge fan of this particular title, Wolverine is down to only one month left until his death so now is the time to read if you want to learn how it happens. Here are my top 5:
Godzilla Cataclysm #1
Despite their best efforts, the monsters couldn’t destroy all of humanity and civilization exits in a few small remaining tribes. Hiroshi is an elder in one of these tribes, and may be the key to humanity’s survival against the monster nightmare.
Captain Marvel #6
If you’ve been following Carol Danvers’ adventures in space, you’ll know that she has been stuck in an awkward position amongst growing interplanetary tensions. Well, the tension is about to erupt and Carol will help straighten out the Spartax and the Heffensye. There’s nothing like a good space battle.
Constantine #17
When John Constantine is transported back to World War I, he encounters more carnage then even he is accustomed to. The horrors of the trenches are made easier by his powers as a mage, but he’s not the only mage there.
Batman #34
After the events of Year Zero, and tying into the turmoil of Batman Eternal, this special issue will see Batman looking for a killer that has secretly plagued Gotham City for years. Special guest Matteo Scalera provides the art for this issue that will kick off Batman’s next major story arc.
Original Sin #7
Original Sin has been a roller coaster ride ever since the Watcher’s murder. There have been red herrings, false leads and Nick Fury’s entire clandestine past, all of which have made the event an enticing read. Now that this penultimate issue is teasing “the last battleground”, Marvel’s big summer event is undoubtedly about to reach its climax.
