The Pull List: New Comic Releases and Top 5 for September 3

To celebrate the anniversary of the release of the New 52, DC is starting to release their Future’s End one-shot tie-ins this week. On top of that, Marvel is wrapping up their big summer event, and this week will mark the beginning of the end for Wolverine, otherwise known as the week Marvel breaks my heart. Here are my top 5:

Cloaks #1

This title is teased as a modern day Robin Hood story. The premise is a street-illusionist who uses his skills to swindle wall-street bankers and give the money to those in need. Promising to be a black-ops thriller mixed with magic, this four-book mini-series looks like a refreshingly original story.

Action Comics Future’s End

DC is bringing 3D covers back for their fun of Future’s End one-shots. Each of the books will look forward into the future of the DCU and examine where the characters will be. In this issue, Superman is missing but his absence isn’t felt the way you might expect since other people start to develop some of his powers.

Green Arrow Future’s End

Another of DC’s one-shots, Green Arrow has been gone for years and his true successor will be revealed in this issue. This issue sees the remarkable creative team of Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino’s last issue before a new team takes over later this month.

Original Sin #8

This issue will conclude Marvel’s summer event. With the Watcher dead and his secrets unleashed, the entire Marvel U has been thrown upside down. Marvel fans will without a doubt get some answers about the fate of Nick Fury and whether or not Marvel’s heroes can learn to make peace with each other in light of everything they’ve learned.

Death of Wolverine #1

This is the issue I have been dreading all summer, the one book I never wanted to see published, and in four issues Charles Soule and Steve McNiven will kill Wolverine. While critics say that comic heroes never stay dead, Soule insists this one is meant to stick. Only time will tell, now please excuse me as I weep uncontrollably.
