The Pull List: New Releases and Top 5 Comics for September 24th

Picking the top five is never easy, every week I’m faced with so many of my favourites and new titles that deserve a chance. This week, there’s a little bit of everything on my list, and while they didn’t make the cut, don’t forget about Saga and Guardians of the Galaxy this week.

Aliens Fire and Stone #1

aliens fire and stone

The Alien mythology is cool to begin with, now this title is going to tie into the cinematic universe that Ridley Scott built, including Prometheus. In this tie-in, a colony is overrun by xenomorphs and a heroic engineer leads the survivors onto a mining ship in the hopes of saving as many people as he can. Of course, if you’ve ever seen any of the Alien movies, you know that a daring escape won’t save you.

Storm #3

storm

There are a number of reasons this issue will be worth reading; first of all it is going to revisit the romance between Storm and Forge. Second, Forge. The soft-spoken mutant with the gift for invention doesn’t make many appearances, but this book will reunite him with Storm and give fans a healthy dose of his awesomeness.

Justice League Dark Future’s End

justice league dark future's end

Continuing their look at the future of the DCU, this week we will learn what will become of Justice League Dark. Not only will Zatanna be tested; as the story begins with her in poor physical and mental health, but she is also involved with the Demon. He will help her struggle through trying to move the House of Mystery back to her own dimension.

Roche Limit #1

roche limit

This looks like another innovative new title; a colony at the edge of an anomaly has a darker side then it may seem. When Bekkah Hudson goes missing, the search for her reveals a bleak look at humanity. By definition Roche Limit “is the distance within a celestial body, held together only by its own gravity, will disintegrate due to a second celestial body’s tidal forces exceeding the first body’s gravitational self-attraction.” So the title is definitely providing some foreshadowing.

Secret Avengers #8

In case you haven’t been reading Secret Avengers, one of the big draws has been M.O.D.O.K. His relationship with Maria Hill has been the source of a lot of humour. This issue will be all about how he came to join them and is guaranteed to be just as funny and action packed as the rest of the series has been.
