The Pull List: Top 5 comics and New Releases for September 10th
This week is the second week of DC’s Future’s End one shots and Death of Wolverine. There’s a lot going on in comics this week as new events rev up and story arcs end. Here are my top 5 to check out this week:
Superman Unchained #9
This is the last issue in the series by Scott Snyder and Jim Lee and Superman Unchained is promising to go out with a bang. While the Man of Steel battles Wraith on the sun, Lex Luthor who is never one to miss an opportunity activates his ultimate weapon.
Wild’s End #1
Described as part Mouse Guard, and part War of the Worlds with elements of Edgar Wright’s Cornetto Trilogy (if you haven’t seen Shawn of the Dead, Hot Fuzz or The World’s End, you should); this new title written by Dan Abnett (of Guardians of the Galaxy fame) imagines what would happen if aliens invaded an earth inhabited by anthropomorphic animals and looks utterly charming.
Hawkeye #20
Matt Fraction’s Hawkeye has been one of the best superhero books running. Clint’s exploits are daring with just the right amount of ridiculous and the whole thing has the right amount of tongue in cheek. This issue looks to be more of the same with an explosive farewell to summer.
Batman Future’s End (one shot)
Batman may be a vigilante, but Bruce Wayne has always held to a strict ethical code when dealing with Gotham’s criminals. As DC looks into the future in the Future’s End series of one shots, we find Batman using a mysterious and dangerous science. This issue will tell us what drove Batman to such measures.
Edge of Spider-verse #1 (of 5)
The biggest Spider-event of all time, Spider-verse is about to kick off. In Superior Spider-man #32, we saw that Doctor Octavius was the catalyst for an assembly of Spider characters, now this mini-series; we’ll see the return of Spider-man Noir and his journey into the Spider-verse.
