Stan Lee Confirms Black Panther Movie at Fan Expo

Stan Lee broke the big news at his “Marvel Presents: The Legendary Stan Lee” panel at Fan Expo on Friday. While he has been talking about this movie for quite some time, Stan the Man finally confirmed that Black Panther is in production. “They are already working on Ant Man, Dr. Strange, and The Black Panther and there are others I’m not allowed to talk about”. Kevin Feige did recently say that Black Panther and Ms Marvel are the two characters most requested by fans to get their own movies, but Marvel is yet to give any official word on the movie’s production. Mr. Lee also weighed in on the potential for a Black Widow movie, but it was more of a tease. He said that she would “be featured more prominently as [Marvel] moves forward.” And pointed out that “chances are she will have her own movie because eventually all the heroes are going to have their own movies.”

While we wait for Marvel to weigh in and let us know for sure what state the production is in, who would you like to see playing the King of Wakanda? I personally would love to see Chiwetel Ejiofor as T’Challa. He has a strong presence on screen and has proven himself in action roles like Serenity and Children of Men making him an excellent choice to play Black Panther. If the movie is being worked on, it is likely slated to release as part of Marvel’s Phase 3, and fans could see it in theaters as soon as 2017.
