Star Wars: Episode VII Will Take Place 30 Years After “Jedi”

We all know that J.J. Abrams is notorious for keeping his projects unwraps, which is why the world was beyond overjoyed yesterday when starwars.com released a statement for the latest installment in the Star Wars franchise. “Disney and Lucasfilm are excited to announce that principal photography on Star Wars: Episode VII, directed by J.J. Abrams, will commence May 2014, and will be based at London’s historic Pinewood Studios.”

Oh, it gets better.

We were also given a “small” detail regarding the plot of the film. Episode: VII will take place about 30 years after Return of the Jedi. We will see a trio of new, young leads along with some…wait for it, “very familiar faces.”

Fun fact: This will be the first Star Wars film to begin shooting in the month of May. Lucasfilm has kept every start date on record since the beginning of Episode: IV.

Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters December 18, 2015.
