V/H/S Viral Trailer Released

Some people aren’t huge on the found footage genre, but I have to say I really enjoy it when it’s done correctly. I think the V/H/S movies are a prime example of whats good about this style of horror movie with their realistic feel and creepy stories. I was thrilled when the trailer for V/H/S Viral came across my desk this week. Check it out above.

This movie looks super creepy and the trailer gives you a really good idea of whats to come. It looks like they have it all and spared no scares in this one and just from this brief snapshot of the movie we already see creepy skeleton zombies, an alien belly monster, a disturbed wizard magician, some sort of shower monster and a giant closet creature that grabs you. The synopsis: “A police chase after a deranged ice cream truck has captivated the attention of the greater Los Angeles area. Dozens of fame-obsessed teens flock to the streets with their video cameras and camera phones, hell-bent on capturing the next viral video. But there is something far more sinister occurring in the streets of L.A. than a simple police chase. A resounding effect is created onto all those obsessed with capturing salacious footage for no other purpose than to amuse or titillate. Soon the discovery becomes that they themselves are the stars of the next video, one where they face their own death.”

As i said before, I thought the first two movies in the franchise were really strong flicks, and there were several things that still creep me out to this day. The filmmakers really pray upon some of peoples worst fears, and at most times it’s extremely realistic. If you haven’t watched those, check em’ out. They really take the found footage genre to a new level and combine it with old school flicks like Tales From The Darkside or Nightmares which had a few short stories put together. It makes it more interesting, and cuts the general horror “fat” from the picture. Based on the trailer for this one, it looks like they’ve really upped their game and are going to have even more going on based on the whole “Viral” concept.

The movie will be released on iTunes and On Demand on October 23, just in time for Halloween. As well, it will be released to theaters in late November.
