The Walking Dead Recap – “No, it’s just four walls and a roof.”

Sunday nights episode of The Walking Dead was quite an epic episode full of moments of anxiety, sadness, and more separation. Instead of doing one big recap, I’m going to point out the main parts of the episodes and talk a little about each. Also, next weeks episode is going to answer the question we’ve all had since last season…where the hell is Beth?

Before I begin talking about main points from Sunday’s episode, I’d just like to remind you all…

SPOILERS!

Also, if you’ve read the comics…you probably figured out a lot of things.

Now, to begin:

Tainted Meat – We’ve got the answer to why Bob was acting so weird and sad in the previous episode. He had indeed gotten bitten and was reacting to it. Now, since Gareth and the Terminus folks were eating his leg, they had no idea he had actually been bitten. So while they were talking (well actually Gareth was talking a lot) and eating his leg, Bob begins to laugh and continues manically laughing, and reveals he had gotten bit on his neck. TAINTED MEAT! “I’m tainted meat! TAINTED MEAT!!” The Terminus folks immediately get worried and Gareth thinks just because they cooked his leg, it’s okay. Little do they know that they’re all infected anyways, so that doesn’t matter. Finally, as Bob continues to laugh, Gareth kicks him in the face.

The Group tries to figure out where Bob, Carol and Daryl are – Sasha figures out that they’re being watched and whoever is watching them took Bob, Carol and Daryl. This follows with some interactions in the church with Father Gabriel and Rick finally gets Father Gabriel to admit what he’s done. The “you’ll burn for this” engravings on the church wall was, because of him locking his door and letting men, women and children get bitten and attacked by walkers. He breaks down and also talks about the walker who had him get into a cry fit in the previous episode. Seth Gilliam gave one helluva great performance in this episode! He’s a great Father Gabriel.

Gareth and the Terminus folks drop Bob off in front of the church – Bob gets dropped off in front of the church and the group goes out and brings Bob inside. Bob reveals that it was indeed Gareth and his Terminus friends who did it and ate his leg. Rick decides it’s time to get revenge. He also knows Daryl and Carol should be back, since Gareth saw them head off in the car and Bob told Rick and the group this. Abraham is of course still on a mission to get to Washington and they begin to butt heads. Finally when everything gets sorted, and Glenn, Maggie and Tara decide they’d leave with Abraham, Rosita and Eugene after 12 hours with or without the rest of them.

Gareth and the Terminus head to the church as Rick and a few members of the group head to where Gareth and the Terminus folks are– This causes one helluva long sequence of anxiety and nervousness for us fans watching. Gareth tries to get everyone left at the church to come out, but everyone is in a room and has their guns ready to shoot if need be. Judith also lets out a few cries which makes the tension and nervousness go to level 90 trillion. Finally, as we think Gareth and the Terminus folks are going to shoot and attack, Rick and the group who left came back and shoot two Terminus people. Gareth tries to talk himself and the rest of the Terminus folks out of this and that they’d be separated and they wouldn’t cross paths again. Rick follows through with a promise and kills Gareth with the machete with the red handle and the other group members brutally kill the rest of the Terminus people. Father Gabriel can’t really fathom that this all happened and that this is a church it happened in and Maggie says, “No, it’s just four walls and a roof”.

Final moments with Bob – The group said their last goodbyes to Bob as he was laying on a couch in the church. Bob then shares an incredible moment with Rick, telling him he’s a great man and that he didn’t think there were people left who would take him in. It was a really beautiful moment. He also basically told Rick to keep trying to keep some humanity in him. To basically always keep that kindness. Bob also has a moment with Sasha, which was incredibly heartbreaking, but also beautiful. He wanted to stay in the middle of this story, not have it end so tragically with his death. After Bob passes away, Sasha has a moment of crying and takes out her knife to put Bob down before he came back as a walker and Tyreese walks in and does it instead. Lawrence Gilliard Jr., was incredible throughout this episode.

Abraham, Rosita, Eugene, Glenn, and Maggie leave for Washington – Another group separation! Ugh. (This kind of made me angry, because I don’t think it was the right thing to do, specially with Glenn and Maggie leaving with them). Abraham gives Rick a map of the route they’re planning on taking so the group can catch up with them when Daryl and Carol hopefully come back. When they leave, Rick opens up the map and sees that Abraham left a message telling him to for sure come to Washington and that the new world needs Rick Grimes. Don’t we all basically need a Rick Grimes in our lives?

Daryl returns with someone or a few people, but it’s a cliffhanger and we don’t find out who – At the end of the episode after Michonne and Father Gabriel share a conversation, they hear some sounds in the bushes and we see Daryl emerge. Michonne gets relieved, but Daryl looks a little frantic and iffy. As if something is wrong and tells whoever or whoever few people are in the bushes to come out. Before we can see who they are the episode ends. Now we are left wondering… where the hell is Carol as well.

Next week we see where Beth has been finally and perhaps we’ll get the answer as too where Carol is and who was in the bushes with Daryl. What did you guys think of this episode? Comment below with your thoughts!
