Big News from NASA? Should We Remember the 13th?

So, there’s been a lot of buzz around the interwebs about a supposed “Earth shaking news release” from NASA in the way of a website launched on October 1st, 2013, www.Rememberthe13th.com, urging you to sign up for updates. Even more interesting, the date has been pushed up to this weekend, October 6th.

Now, there are a few reasons why I am planning on taking this whole thing with a grain of salt as big as Salar de Uyuni.

1- The biggest thing that makes me question this whole deal is the fact that NASA lost 97% of their staff when the government shut down on October 1st. NASA can’t really do ANYTHING without funding. They can’t even run their website or social media, let alone a site that is supposed to drop a truth-bomb on the world.

2- The reddit thread on this whole thing is calling it out as bad. Now, I’m not one to trust every word on the ninternets, but reddit is usually pretty good at sniffing out bullshit.

3- The source code on the website itself puts down zero connection to NASA itself. Even doing a “whois” search for the website’s owner lists it as “Namecheap.com” and uses a privacy guard service based in Panama. Even conspiracy sites are saying this whole thing smells.

I’m going to keep my eye on this whole thing, as opposed to having to remember the 13th as to what the deal is. A part of me wants this to be a real thing, but I’m going to go with Deadpool on this one…

Shhh, my common sense is tingling

‘Nuff said.
