Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde Set to Return for ‘Tron’ Sequel!
In 1982, it seemed as if Tron was beyond it’s time. Tron introduced us to a computer world called The Grid and Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges) and Alan Bradley (Bruce Boxleitner).

Back in 1982, this was pretty much the wildest thing ever seen.
And while it was only a moderate success back then, it gained quite a following and a cult status. In 2010, Disney released a much-anticipated sequel 30 years after the previous film called Tron: Legacy, starring Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde. In the sequel, we became reacquainted with The Grid and a new storyline featuring Flynn’s son (Hedlund) and algorithm-made-flesh, Quorra (Wilde).
Since the sequel’s release, many wondered if there would be news on a threequel and now, we finally have our answer. Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Disney is moving forward with a third Tron movie and it will bring back stars Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde along with Tron: Legacy‘s director, Joseph Kosinski.
Like the film’s predecessor, Tron: Legacy did just OK at the box office but became a cult hit afterwards, in large part to the Daft Punk-centric soundtrack. Listen to Daft Punk’s Derezzed below:
There’s no official timeline for production just yet but rumours are swirling that they will film in Vancouver later this year with a 2017 or 2018 release date.
