Independence Day: Resurgence

As former pilot, and Independence Day hero, Russel Casse said, “Hello, boys.  I’m baaaaaaaack.”

The trailer for Independence Day: Resurgence was released by 20th Century Fox Films, and oh boy, it looks amazing.  Right off the bat, we get a good look at Dr. Ian Malcolm, er I mean, David Levinson.  We get caught up on what’s been happening with our pale blue dot since 1996.  We’ve adopted a lot of the alien technology, that’s good.  We’ve also militarized most of it, that’s bad.  We get some awesome new fighters, which could lead to some awesome dog fighting scenes, that’s good.  But, it looks like the aliens have adapted their technology as well, that’s bad.

We get to see Bill Pullman come back, and he looks bad ass with the full beard.  Former President Whitmore looks like he’s been spending some time by himself.  That’s cool, Mr. President, you earned yourself some R&R.

While the trailer looks slick and hits all our nostalgia bones, the build for the movie is going in an interesting direction.  If you have yourself some free time, head over the the War of 1996 website.  It gives an interesting look at the world’s history since the great war in 1996.  Watch out for spoilers, they do confirm why Will Smith won’t be in Independence Day: Resurgence, ouch.

Regardless of if you’re an old fan or a new fan, it’s nice to see the sequel finally get close to launching.  We can only hope we get to see the greatest salute in the history of the world happen one more time.

saluting crewsman

It is still the best part about that speech.

Independence Day: Resurgence is set to open June 24th, 2016.
