The Pull List: New Comic Releases and Top 5 for July 16

It’s a big week for comics guys; stories will begin and stories will end. Milestones will be celebrated. So without farther ado, here are my top 5:

Batman: a Celebration of 75 Years/ Joker: a Celebration of 75 Years

joker 75

I don’t normally list hardcovers but I’m going to make an exception for these two compilation books. Both will celebrate Batman’s big anniversary with a collection of stories; one issue focussing Batman’s greatest moments, and the other devoted to stories of Gotham’s crowned prince of crime, the Joker.

Robin Rises Omega #1

robin-rises-omega-1

Batman can’t celebrate 75 years without his trusty sidekick, and in Robin Rises Omega, he will get one. But will it be a literal rising, a resurrection? Or will the Dark Knight get a new Robin? This is the issue with the answers and you don’t have to wait for the story to continue because the next part falls in Batman and Robin #33, which is also on sale this week.

Ms Marvel #6

ms marvel 6

Ms Marvel is a fantastic ongoing title with a charming protagonist who deals with very realistic problems. So what makes this issue special? How about a cameo from Wolverine? Yes, I know my bias is showing, but I can’t think of a more entertaining mentor for Kamala than Wolverine.

Wonder Woman #33

Wonder_Woman 33

Brian Azzarello’s run on Wonder Woman has been well-received, but all good things must come to an end. Azzarello and Cliff Chiang begin the end of their epic in this issue where the fate of Olympus hangs in the balance. Who amongst Diana’s family is fit to rule?

Marvel 100th Anniversary Special X-Men

100th-Anniversary-X-Men

This issue will be the third in Marvel’s 100th Anniversary collection, and it has a lot to live up to. The previous issues featuring the Fantastic Four and Spider-Man were both great homages to the classics that built Marvel, so this week’s special X-Men story is likely to find a way to celebrate the X-Men’s future while paying tribute to their past.
