Metal Gear Solid Movie gets a writer!

After years stuck in development hell the Metal Gear Solid movie is one step closer to finally becoming a reality.  Fans of the long running series have been eagerly awaiting any news of a big screen adaption but news has been sparse at best.

Today it was announced that Jay Basu, is joining producers Avi and Ari Arad (Iron Man and The Amazing Spider-Man) and director Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer and Nick Offerman: American Ham) to bring the cinematic game series to life.

Like fans of any videos game, fans of Metal Gear have often debated who they would want to handle the film and much displeasure has been voiced about the lack of involvement of  long time series lead actor and screen writer David Hayter (X-Men and Watchmen).  Another subject of discussion is how hands-on series creator Hideo Koijma would be involved in the development of film.

This is just the latest in a string of Metal Gear Solid news, with the release date and collectors edition of Metal Gear Solid V going public several weeks ago, and recent news that Kojima will be leaving Konami at the end of the year, this seems to be a big news years for Metal Gear Solid.

Hopefully there will be more information on this front in the near future.
