The Amazing Spider-Man 2 – Spoiler Free Review

I had the opportunity to see an advance screening last night, and man I left thoroughly entertained. When Sony said they were rebooting the Spider-Man movies, I thought “How bad will this be?” But I was surprised as to how much I actually enjoyed it more than the original 3. I found Andrew Garfield to be a really good modern day Peter Parker, and his chemistry with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacey was believable. I thought there was no way a sequel could recapture that.  I was wrong.

The Visuals and Special Effects in the movie, especially in 3D, were breathtaking, I found myself actually saying “Wow” under my breath.

Spidey Electro

Jamie Foxx did a great interpretation of a nerdy scientist, who then turns into badass super villain Electro. You really can’t help but love the guy when he’s on the screen. I found myself wanting to see more of him.

The story itself was not as heavily action packed as I would expect, but it was the right amount of action/villain/hero fighting. The story flowed smoothly and didn’t seem to stagger on at any point. It had the right amount of action, to movie, to moving the story forward, to even Spider-man’s funny quips and jokes. It wasn’t heavy on any of that. The right balance overall.

Spidey Firman

My biggest fear with all the teasers in the previews is that they were going try and pull off a “Spider-Man 3” type of film by cramming as many villains in as possible. This was not the case. The movie was perfectly balanced villain wise, and perfectly sets you up for Amazing Spider-Man 3, which you will want to see.
