Contest! Can You Solve the Haunting of Noriko at Escape Games Canada?

Back in September an intrepid group of Geekpr0n staff took on the “End of the Line” mission at Escape Games Canada and we had a blast! (you can read our review here  ) So you can imagine our excitement when we learned that Escape Games has opened its sixth puzzle room, “The Haunting of Noriko”. In case you haven’t jumped on the puzzle room games bandwagon, let me give you a bit of a primer; escape games and puzzle rooms are a recent entertainment phenomenon. Originating in Asia and Europe and only recently taking hold in North America, escape games are based on “escape the room” video games in which a player must examine their surroundings and solve puzzles to escape. The real-life versions of this often feature stories and themes, but Escape Games Canada goes one step further; they build an experience. Every mission at Escape Games has a full set, theatrical lighting, and an immersive story, and the “Haunting of Noriko” is no exception.

The mission is built in a two story house near the back of the facility. When you approach, cherry blossoms frame the doorway which is marked with an ominous bloody hand print. But inside, the sliding doors reveal something much more sinister. Every part of this game is unnerving and I wouldn’t recommend it for the faint of heart, but if you’re brave enough, the challenge of putting Noriko’s spirit to rest is a lot of fun. There is so much to see and do that it can be tough to manage it all within the hour long time limit, but with a group 8 to 10 people, you can split up, conquer your fears and put Noriko to rest.

In case the idea of solving a house full of puzzles isn’t tantalizing enough, Escape Games worked with professional prop builders to build the life casts and animatronics. To celebrate the mission opening, they’re holding a contest where you can win a ghastly version of yourself. All you have to do to win a spiritified life cast of yourself is complete “The Haunting of Noriko” before March 31st and then give their Facebook a like and share. Farther details can be found on the Escape Games Facebook page,  but suffice it to say that this contest for a one of a kind prize has already proven very popular. So if you’re looking for something a little different to do, why not indulge in a little terror and solve the mystery of Noriko’s ghost?
