‘Death Valley’ MTV’s Answer to ‘Cops’…Just Add the Undead

MTV’s track record in original fiction programming has been spotty, in recent years the former Music Television channel has been shifting from music to reality and scripted television that has music in it.

“Death Valley” is the most recent outing for MTV into the supernatural genre since summer hit “Teen Wolf” made a splash in the ratings. With it’s  mockumentry style “Death Valley” doesn’t take itself too seriously, it gets the joke.

When San Fernando Valley becomes overrun with monsters the LAPD forms the Undead Task Force (UTF), a specialized division working to contain the newest scourge to hit LA; vampires, werewolves, zombies and whatever other monsters come their way.

The first episode is already full of zombie humour, vampire prostitution and car chases. If you’re looking for lighthearted undead comedy this seems to be a sure bet.

The camera crew rides along to document the gruesome kills, bizarre encounters & the antics of the members of the UTF.

“Death Valley” stars Tania Raymonde (“Lost”), Bryan Callen (“The Hangover”), Caity Lotz (“Mad Men”), Bryce Johnson (‘Sleeping Dogs Lie”), Texas Battle (“Final Destination 3”, “Dragonball,” “Coach Carter”) and Charlie Sanders (Funny or Die’s “The Big Dog”). “Death Valley” is executive produced by Eric Weinberg, Austin Reading, Julie Kellman Reading and Tim Healy. Spider One is co-executive producer of the series. Tony DiBari is Executive Producer, MTV and Matthew Parillo is MTV executive in charge of production.
