Firefly and Prometheus in the same universe?

Joss Whedon is one sneaky lil’ bugger. Which is also why we all love him. As you know, Joss wrote Aliens: Resurrection and it looks like some of that influence creeped its way into Firefly’s pilot episode without a lot of us clueing in. Although I did. I just didn’t say anything because I was testing you all. I know, crafty right?

At the very beginning of Firefly’s pilot episode, “Serenity” when we’re introduced to Captain Reynolds at the Battle of Serenity Valley, he jumps behind a giant anti-aircraft cannon to shoot down a ship. Well when he turns it on you’ll notice the all-too-familiar Weyland-Yutani Corporation logo from Prometheus and the Alien franchise at the top of the screen.
