The Heroes of the Film: Gavin Stephens and Andrew Young

The Heroes of the Film: Gavin Stephens and Andrew Young

Comedian Gavin Stephens and film maker/podcaster Andrew Young have a dream – they see a geeky comedy tour, they see a road trip that visits Canada’s great geeky sites, they see a documentary/concert tour called “The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth” and they’ve decided to run a Kickstarter to realize this vision!

They launched the campaign with a comedy show at the Silver Snail, highlighting some of the acts that might be joining them on tour. It started with the geeky musical duo Debs and Errol who did a few songs including their “AT-ATs in the Snow” and their parody song “Make It So” based on Star Trek:First Contact.

There were a few comedians, including Mayce Galoni who talked about how he used to hide his geeky tendencies before ‘coming out’ as a geek, and then Gavin Stephens closed the show with his observations on married geek life.

Now for the fun stuff – the perks!

The rewards levels run from $5 with a credit thanks to $1000 Producer Credit and Private Screening (this one’s gone!).

In between you have such items as a high quality download of the finished film, access to their video log, DVD or BluRay copies of the film, the poster print, downloads of a Gavin Stephens’ comedy performance. At the $200 level, you  can option a nerdy lunch with Gavin, or for $300 you can show off the geekery in your town for the movie if you own a comic book store/gaming shop/indie DVD or Music store, for $400 they will put on a show at your location for inclusion in the film.

So, if you’re a fan of geeky comedy, of geeky road trips, and geeky documentaries, why not check out “The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth” and donate before Friday 9pm EDT!
