Great Canadian Appathon 2 Hosted by NOS Energy Drink

Last week I had the wicked opportunity to attend the Great Canadian Appathon. On September 30, over 200 students across Canada  had only 48 hours to develop the next best Angry Birds application – with a sports theme, fueled by NOS Energy Drink.

The GCA² is Canada’s largest hackathon with the winning team taking home $25,000 for 2 days of work. Sweet deal, right?

So who took home the mega-cheque?  4 dudes from Concordia University called Team Drop Table with their app Trace Racer.

This is what the team behind The GCA² had to say about the competition:

The winning games were evaluated on criteria such as the degree of innovation, the fun and entertainment factor, the level or art and design polish as well as stability, all under the theme of sports.

This was a really cool event and it was awesome to see such young talent being recognized. The members of team Drop Table have also been invited to  interview at  XMG Studios and have been awarded Unity Pro 3.x licenses.

Check out the interview with Drop Table on CTV
