Helix Trailer for Showcase

It’s not only movies that get trailers…Showcase Canada has begun uploading trailers for their series including one for Helix, launched on November 13th.  The  science-thriller series follows a team of scientists from the Center of Disease Control who are investigating an outbreak at an Arctic high-tech research facility. (Anyone else getting a ‘The Thing’ vibe?)

The show has definite sci-fi cred with the Executive Producer being Battlestar Galactica’s Ronald D. Moore, who will probably help shepherd  Creator/Co-Executive Producer Cameron Porsandeh. There will be some familiar faces on screen including Jeri Ryan (Star Trek Voyager, Leverage, Body of Proof) and Luciana Carro (Battlestar Galatica’s Louanne ‘Kat’ Katraine). Another actor, Neil Napier, is a familiar voice to gamers, being  best known from the Assassin’s Creed series  (Fisher Case, Benedict Arnold, and Charles Lee).

While it’s being created by television newcomer Cameron Porsandeh, who also wrote the pilot episode, the experienced team should be able to guide it through its first season.  This series is shot in Montreal and will run on both Showcase in Canada and Sy-Fy  in the US.

The trailer is a true teaser, but a little bit of research reveals that the 12 episode season will premiere on Friday January 10th.  Enjoy!
