The Pull List: New Comics and Top 5 Picks for November 26
This week is a good week to look back and polish off some old gems. From the re-emergence of the Spectre, a modern odyssey and an epic tribute, this week’s top 5 is filled with nostalgia and throwbacks. Here they are:
Scarlet Spiders #1 (of 3)
As with any Marvel event, Spider-verse is beginning its gauntlet of spin-off titles. This team comprised of Ultimate Jessica Drew, Kaine and Ben Reilly are on a mission that will make or break the Spider’s battle against the Inheritors. Writer Michael Costa and artist Paco Diaz are responsible for this key piece of the Spider-verse saga.
Ody-C #1
Fans of classic literature may recognize the plot of Ody-C; Odyssia has to find her way home after becoming the champion in a galactic war that was centuries long. Matt Fraction is writing this modern odyssey and Christian Ward is providing the psychedelic visuals.
Django Zorro #1 (of 6)
I don’t know what else to say about this book except why wouldn’t you want to read it? Django gets hired on by Zorro to act as his own personal body guard. Taking place years after Django Unchained, this is the next chapter in Django’s life as a bounty hunter and promises to be a hell of an adventure.
The Shadow Show #1 (of 5)
In a fitting tribute to Ray Bradbury, IDW is releasing this five-issue adaptation of the original prose tribute of the same name. The series will feature works adapted from the stories of some of the biggest writers today, including Neil Gaiman, Harlan Ellison and Joe Hill.
Gotham By Midnight #1
We don’t see enough of the Spectre, so knowing that Jim Corrigan is getting a new ongoing series is pretty great news. Corrigan is featured in Batman Eternal, and now he and his “Midnight Squad” are tasked with taking care of the darker side of Gotham, the things you only see at night. Sharp eyed fans will notice some familiar faces in the squad that are helping Corrigan the way.
