A ReBoot Reboot to Reboot My Love For ReBoot

hex1“I come from the Net – through systems, peoples, and cities – to this place: MAINFRAME. My format: Guardian. To mend and defend – to defend my new found friends, their hopes and dreams, and to defend them from. . . their enemies,” I scream into my television at my nineteen-year-old ReBoot episodes recorded on VHS, following along with the opening of my favourite show on television.

To this day I can remember every line of the ReBoot opening credits like some sort of weirdo fangirl. Watching the show was some of the most fun I had ever watching a television show as a kid; there was a two-part episode that horrified me where Dot was trapped in a funhouse. One of my favourite episodes was the one where Hexadecimal hacked into the Mainframe paint program (the ReBoot version of MS Paint) and ran rampant around the system, vandalizing Mainframe and all its residents.

megabyte1ReBoot fans have been rallying together for over a decade to have the 1994 classic kids show rebooted for modern television. The last season of the show had a somewhat abrupt cancellation and the movies released afterward were somewhat disappointing. I’ve been looking for the entire series on boxset for a long time ago, finding no success because I’m pretty sure a DVD boxset of the show doesn’t exist. But now, with the reboot of the series, my fangirl hope has brightened that they will release all the syndicated episodes on DVD.

Rainmaker Entertainment has announced its television department, lovingly naming it “Mainframe Entertainment” and unveiling a press release on September 30th, 2013 that Mainframe’s lovechild, ReBoot, would be “re-imagined” as a new series just in time for the show’s 20th anniversary.

I am so excited, I think I might just shit my pants. Well, maybe just pee my pants. Let’s keep this professional, folks.

I very much look forward to seeing this ReBoot of ReBoot. All the times I would sit in front of my grandparents’ TV set and my own sifting through random shows and staying tuned to YTV on special holidays and ReBoot marathons just to see one new episode. I hope that we will definitely see a ReBoot 2.0.

Although abrupt because of its cancellation I thought the third season finale ended the series pretty well. Never got to see season 4. Also I loved Rainmaker’s teaser trailer of the game-cube on their website. I guess now I’m off to the interwebs to find season 4.
