Chris Evans Isn’t Ready to Give Up the Shield

Marvel has been conspicuously quiet about Captain America 3; we know that it is slated for release in 2016 but beyond that everything is fan speculation. The most popular theory is that the next movie will follow the storyline of the comic arc Death of Captain America, which closely follows The Winter Soldier. As the title suggests, Death of Captain America is infamous because it tells the story of Steve Roger’s death. As rumours swirl of what Cap’s next step will be, MTV caught up with Chris Evan’s while he was visiting TIFF to promote his directorial debut Before We Go, and they found out that he knows a lot more then he’s willing to tell.

In the interview, Evans promised that everything in the cinematic universe continues to interconnect, and that it’s all a big complex web. While discussing the speculation that Captain America might splinter away from the Avengers and we might see the Civil War storyline play out on screen, Evans was hesitant to give away too much information but finally said, “Marvel doesn’t disappoint…Whatever you’re hoping for, you’re probably going to get.” While that really doesn’t tell us anything, Evans did give a hint when asked about his time as the Captain and whether or not he’d be handing off his shield to another character. He said, “Who’s handing off the shield? Don’t take my job from me prematurely dude…I’m sure it’ll happen at some point, all good things come to an end. But I’m really happy playing the character.” This is a little surprising, especially since Evans recently announced that he would retire from acting after his six picture deal with marvel was completed but it looks like Evan’s Steve Rogers will be hanging around until at least Avengers 3 and we might even get to see Civil War on the big screen!
