Geekbands.ca Launches to Help Promote Canadian Geek Music

Do you like geeky music? Chances are if you are on this site that you do. But can you name a Canadian geek band?…okay, yes, you probably can…but can you name ten of them?! PROBABLY NOT! HA!

As it turns out, there is a ton of geeky musical talent across our vast country just waiting to be listened to and enjoyed. The tough question has always been: how on earth do we find this music? Well, now we have an answer:GBCLogo_Red400

Enter geekbands.ca, a new online resource for all Canadian geek bands. Spearheaded by Errol Elumir of geek comedy duo Debs and Errol, the hope is to create a comprehensive database of all geek musicians within Canada and to promote and cultivate the geek music genre as a whole.

One of the other goals though is to provide the geek bands themselves with resources. This includes a list of Canadian cons and geek blogs. Anyone is welcome to contribute new information as well, so if you happen to see any missing feel free to make suggestions.

For lazy people who happen to love geek music such as myself, this site is a godsend. I think I knew of about three of the bands listed on the site, and have been very quickly checking out other artists such as “Kraken, Not Stirred”, “Blast Processors” and “Press Start 2 Play”.

There is a sampler of some of the bands’ music that you can listen to on the site. Even better, if you happen to run into any of the geek bands or contact them they will provide you with a download code for the sampler for FREE!

So check it out. Listen to some music, suggest some bands, and celebrate geek music! And keep an eye out for download cards at the various geeky events! Or just stalk the bands…they will accept either.
