Much Ado About the Whedonverse

The news broke on twitter last night that principal photography wrapped on Joss Whedon’s latest film  and I’m not talking “The Avengers”. Joss Whedon and a huge cast of his amazing Whedonverse talent have been quietly working on a film adaptation of Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing“.

Amy Acker and Alexis Denisof are poised to take the leads as Beatrice and Benedick, the reluctant lovers. The supporting cast contains the likes of Nathan Fillion as Dogberry, Franz Kranz as Claudio, Reed Diamond as Don Pedro as well as Sean Maher as Don John, Tom Lenk as Verges,  and many more. It’s like the Joss Whedon all-star team taking on Shakespeare. How bad ass?

The film was shot in black and white over 12 days in Santa Monica. It is Bellwether Picture’s first feature film project, a small micro studio created by Joss Whedon and Kai Cole for the production of smaller, independent projects embracing new technology and DIY ethos.
