The Pull List: New Comic Releases and Top 5 Picks for October 29th

This week’s list of new releases has a whole bunch of brand new number ones, so I thought I would highlight some of them for you. Here are my top 5:

Deathlok #1

Since everything is connected in the Marvel U, I think it’s kind of cool that Agents of SHIELD has brought Deathlok back into the forefront. Sadly the killer cyborg had fallen a bit out of fashion, but now he’s back. Henry Hayes first appeared during the Original Sin story arc, and is the newest Deathlok to hit the field. Nathan Edmondson who also wrote Black Widow and The Punisher is the scribe for this new ongoing series.

Justice League United Annual #1

It isn’t a new comic book day without the launch of a big story arc. Enter Justice League United who are kicking off a story called The Infinitus Saga. Now, this team is pretty cool to begin with, but if you have Jeff Lemire writing a story about how they have to save the 31^st century from being destroyed and I am wholly on board.

Death of Wolverine: Deadpool and Captain America #1

No, I am not over Woverine’s death. Marvel is not helping the issue; every week there’s a new title that celebrates Logan’s life and talks about how the Marvel U is coping. This week, Deadpool and Captain America are getting a turn in the spotlight. They’re an unlikely pair, I know, but their story arc is intriguing; written by Gerry Duggan and illustrated by Ed Mcguinness, this odd couple of Wolverine’s old friends are teaming up to stop anyone from stealing his DNA to clone him (again).

Baltimore: The Wolf and the Apostle #1 (of 3)

Mike Mignola and Christopher Golden are behind this mini-series which will see Lord Baltimore face more supernatural elements than usual. In this three-parter, a werewolf will have a field day in an European castle and is being hunted by the Inquisition. Golden describes the story as “quick and nasty”, and it’s just in time for Halloween.

Harley Quinn Annual #1

Here’s something different, Harley’s Annual will not only have to pass the bar for story, art, layout and inks, but also for smells. Yes, you read that correctly, smells. Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner maybe having too much fun with Harley’s psychosis; it certainly offers them a lot of creative liberties like breaking the fourth wall and following the book’s heroine to Coney Island and sharing her experience via a rub and smell feature.
