The Pull List: New Comics and Top 5 for October 1
It’s another big week for Marvel and being the fan girl I am, I now present my all Marvel top 5:
Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier #1
Following the events of Original Sin, Bucky Barnes is getting a brand new title. We’re used to seeing the Winter Soldier preform daring feats of espionage, but in the wake of Original Sin, Bucky has a new mandate and he’ll be headed to space to keep the peace there.
Captain America #25
Who is going to take up Cap’s shield? Well, the answer has been spoiled for us already. But even with the spoiler, I am very excited to see what happens. Falcon is stepping up to become the new Captain after being propelled into the spotlight by his supporting role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier this summer, and this is the issue where Sam Wilson will take his first steps towards his new role in the Marvel U.
Death of Wolverine #3 (of 4)
After a couple of week’s hiatus due to a publishing hiccup, Death of Wolverine is set to resume slowly breaking my heart this week. So far the mini-series has seen Wolverine face a number of old foes, reunite with some old friends and even return to Madripoor; this issue will no doubt have a few more heart-wrenching throwbacks to Logan’s past as he lives out his days in this penultimate volume.
Guardians 3000 #1
Dan Abnett is the mastermind behind the Guardians of the Galaxy volume 2, which came out in 2008 and introduced the team as they are now so it is unbelievably exciting to see him try his hand at writing for the original Guardians. Vance Astro, Martinex, Yondu, Starhawk and Charlie-27 have their own title again and are trying to save the future and I can’t wait.
Thor #1
Marvel announced a couple of months ago that Thor would become a woman. This title also follows the events of Original Sin and in the wake of Uatu’s secrets being revealed, Thor is unworthy of Mjolnir and his weapon lies on the moon waiting. Enter the new female Thor. I have no idea who she is or where she came from, but I am very intrigued and eager to find out.
