Photography: ‘From Enchantment to Down’ Thomas Czarnecki’s Dark Fairytales

Thomas Czarnecki‘s “From Enchantment to Down” series takes a much darker approach to the fairytales to which we are accustomed. The photos in all their dark beauty capture an eerie atmosphere more reminiscent of a horror films or crime scene photography.

Czarnecki interprets fairytales where our female heroes including Cinderella, Ariel and Alice have met their tragic ends rather than their happy ending. The women are pictured in the dark, faceless and broken, all adding to the haunting atmosphere of the photographs.

I’m determined to break the space-time continuum to allow for more hours in the week so I can stay on top of all the best TV shows, movies and surrounding geekery. Please, if someone can fetch me a TARDIS I will be one step closer to making that happen (and one step closer to that mad man inside the blue box). Until then I’ll have to make do with my regular super powers to keep you in the loop.

Saw these a couple of days ago was actually pretty affected by them, especially being a kid who grew up with Disney.

That’s not to say there’s not something very intriguing about the macabre nature of them. Quite the opposite, actually.
